The O'Brien's

The O'Brien's

A band consisting of dad Paul on vocals/guitar, brothers Cormac on double bass and Fintan on vocals/guitar, and sister Millie on vocals. Based in Victoria, BC, you will often see the O'Brien's around town at various venues or simply busking downtown.

Katie MacDonald

Brandon, MB singer - songwriter Katie MacDonald has been performing for as long as she can remember. With a unique sound and soulful voice, you'll be humming her melodies long after a show. She has performed at the Winnipeg Folk Festival with the Young Performers Program, opened for Juno Award Winner Sierra Noble, and performed at many festivals around Manitoba such as The Harvest Sun Music Festival and Brandon Folk, Music and Art Festival. Her song writing recognizes both the sorrow and beauty that life places upon us. As a thriving songwriter, MacDonald is certainly an artist you will want to keep your eyes on.

Craig Henderson Trio

Craig Henderson Trio

Craig Henderson is a 21 year-old singer and pianist. He leads his trio in performing the music of timeless artists such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Nat "King" Cole, and others who share his love of the Great American Songbook. Craig began his early training in classical piano, shifting his musical attention to jazz/swing in his teens. Developing an interest in singing at age 17, his voice now lends the trio its signature sound Craig regularly performs throughout the Victoria area with his first jazz piano teacher, Bill Kent (double bass) and his father, Gordon Henderson (guitar).

Wontanara Drum & Dance is a francophone performance troupe that specializes in sharing and teaching traditional music originating from Guinea, West Africa. Wontanara means “We are United” in the Susu language of Guinea and the sounds of their music makes them an unforgettable experience.

Cookeilidh

Cookeilidh

Cookeilidh has been delighting audiences for years with their high energy traditional, and modernized Celtic tunes. Comprised of 12-string guitar, electric bass, Irish flute, fiddle, bodhran, and vocals, they define their music as "Trad with Attitude". Blending the tunes of Ireland and Scotland, with a heaping spoonful of Maritime flavour, and a dash of Folk, is their recipe for a modern day kitchen party!

FUNK CANNON is back by popular demand for Summer 2016. Comprised of Thomas Daudlin (saxophones), Max Stover (saxophones), and Hunter Ellis (drums). These experienced and dynamic musicians bring their powerful sound and innovative arrangements to energize and entertain. Specializing in their signature Brass-Pop Klezmer-House genre, FUNK CANNON is a force that lays a minefield of musical surprises.

Adam Bay is a Weissenborn Instrumentalist from Vancouver Island. Bay's music reflects deep west coast roots and his life long passion for Global Sounds. This One-man-band is captivating audiences all across the island.

Fintan

Fintan O'Brien

Fintan O’Brien is a singer/songwriter currently residing in Victoria, BC having moved there from his hometown of Birmingham, England. He has been writing since he was ten years old, and his songs have been enthusing audiences from the streets of Victoria to the Vancouver Island Music Festival (where he performed with his family as The O’Brien Family).

Max and Jonah have been playing the fiddle for 7 years and are currently members of Daniel Lapp’s BC Fiddle Orchestra. Recently, they have been busking downtown Victoria to raise funds for an exchange trip to New Brunswick. Their repertoire includes mostly Canadian, Irish, Scottish, and American fiddle tunes.

Laurel DeGruchy

Born and raised in Victoria, Laurel is often singing, recording, and picking up random instruments to use in hopes of making ear pleasing music. She is sometimes joined by her father and brother (Bill DeGruchy Sr. and Jr.) to fill out the band on bass and guitar, making their musical platform, DeGruchy Music.

Sizzlers Fiddle Group

Sizzlers Fiddle Group

Enjoyed by audiences of all ages the Sizzlers Fiddle Group are students at the Amati String Studio. Each performer in this group trains classically in the Royal Conservatory Examination system, in addition to playing fiddle music & performing in the group. This group of talented violinists range in age from 4 to 12 years old. The Sizzlers Fiddle Group performs under the guidance of founder & director Amy Florence Paster. Creative rehearsals consist of time to learn new tunes, improvise, create and prepare performances in an energetic environment which nourishes the uniqueness of the group. Students performing at the Victoria Busker's Festival have just completed a one week Busking Camp, in preparation for street performing! Influenced by groups such as Les Yeux Noirs, Barrage, Veretski Pass, and many others, the Sizzlers play tunes rooted in Celtic, Klezmer and Traditional fiddle music along with self composed works. This energetic, young, talented performance group from Victoria BC participates in performances including outdoor markets, festivals, special events at local schools, fundraising for charity events.
